5/19/2022 - Denmark - Country #55

Denmark was one of those countries I got to enjoy with family and friends. There was also a lot of fun names of dishes that I could barely pronounce, lolz.

I was just straight up googling Danish foods, lolz. The menu was comprised of: Frikadeller (Danish Meatballs) Recipe | Allrecipes; Flødekartofler - Traditional Danish Recipe | 196 flavors (scalloped potatoes, basically); Grønærter og Gulrøder(Creamed Peas and Carrots) - Sid's Sea Palm Cooking (sidsseapalmcooking.com); and Danish Red Berry Pudding (Rødgrød med fløde) - Nordic Food & Living (nordicfoodliving.com). I could only pronounce the Frikadeller - and what a fun word at that, too!

First, you get out your ingredients:

Mixed the meatball mixture together; after it sat in the fridge for a while, I made it into little patties and fried them off. Done!

Next, a homemade...Jello? mix of sugar, cornstarch, and frozen berries was concocted on the stove and put to the fridge to set for dessert.

(Second pictured is the berries getting strained out.)

Next, scalloped potatoes. Cut your taters up and make up some milk mix and layer that sucker up:

While that baked, I made a little cream sauce and cooked up some peas and carrots and mixed them together.

Later on, I put homemade whipped cream on the homemade berry Jello and voila! Dinner was ready!

This dinner was eaten with my brother and our family friends. The meatballs were soft, mild, and did well against the fattiness of the potatoes. The potatoes were a little undercooked (that's on me) but had good flavor. The creamed veggies were rich and fresh at the same time. The pudding was interesting. The berry Jello had turned into an almost fruit glaze texture, so it was like eating glaze and whipped cream. We concluded that while it was good, it needed to be on a cake or something. Overall, I liked it, and I believe it was overall enjoyed by everyone :)
